The Requirements
Midas Construction won a prestigious £12m contract to construct a new ‘green’ business park in south Bristol. The planned facility was the first in the South West to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ environmental rating, so Midas needed to find site accommodation that met the same high environmental standards.

The Solution
We knew that Portakabin provided a high standard of site cabins, and we found that its Konstructa Energy-Saver range offered exactly the eco-performance we were looking for. With energy-saving features like motion-detection lighting and percussion taps, it fulfilled the criteria set by BREEAM.
Midas Construction decided to hire five 32-foot long Konstructa Energy-Saver buildings and a 32-foot store room. The buildings were fitted out to provide warm, comfortable office and meeting room facilities, and fully equipped canteen and washroom amenities.
The highly insulated Energy-Saver buildings can reduce energy use and carbon emissions by up to 36%, compared to standard site cabins.
The already tight deadline for the project had to be brought forward when a special opening ceremony – to be attended by the Mayor of Bristol – was announced ahead of the original delivery date.
Portakabin were really up against it to get the buildings ready sooner than expected. The team from the local Hire Centre pulled out all the stops to get the cabins here on time. They even came in early on the morning of the ceremony to complete the installation and make sure everything was ready for the Mayor’s arrival. We were truly impressed by the outstanding level of service they provided.
