  1. The Requirements

During the redevelopment of the London School of Economics and Political Science, construction leader Mace chose Portakabin to provide more than 550m² of site accommodation to the busy campus.

To save space, Portakabin installed the three-storey welfare hub onto a 7m high steel gantry. The building features a living wall which introduces a welcome eco-system to the urban construction site helping to suppress dust and reduce noise pollution.

  2. The Solution

David Griffiths, General Manager at Portakabin (Site Accommodation) said, “With the Aldwych campus site sitting right in the heart of London, our modular units had to be able to be craned into the tightest of spaces. We installed the building on a 7m high steel gantry to reduce the amount of space taken up on the busy construction site. This building is a testament to how flexible our modular site accommodation products can be; providing the highest quality, for any site.

The specification of the building is excellent and the professional standard and expertise of the Portakabin team allowed the whole operation to be safely installed in three days. The project required high-quality welfare facilities with open plan offices for more than 250 operatives throughout the two year construction project. Everything was delivered with ease thanks to the Portakabin team’s proficiency.
