Barr ConstructionCustomer: Barr ConstructionLocation: Cardiff Requirement: Barr Construction has a long track record of delivering new-build projects, extensions and refurbishments for leading retailers throughout the UK. The company has a partnering agreement with Tesco to deliver new store builds and extensions, carrying out £70m to £90m-worth of work for the UK’s biggest retailer every year. For its store demolition and rebuild project in Cardiff, Barr Construction needed to provide a full range of temporary site facilities for the 300 workers who would be based on site. Solution: Barr Construction always sources the highest quality site buildings for its Tesco projects, supporting the supermarket’s quality reputation and enhancing the appearance of its sites during the building programme. Barr Construction itself sets high standards for its temporary accommodation, ensuring it maintains a professional corporate image on site. Barry Bryce, Retail Unit Manager at Barr Construction, says: “We hadn’t sourced temporary accommodation in the Cardiff area before, so we contacted Konstructa Hire Ltd to find out what they could offer. The quality of accommodation available from the company was very good and met the strict requirements we set for our Tesco projects. The buildings also met our financial stipulations and could be delivered within short lead times.” Barr Construction chose 12 robust, anti-vandal Konstructa buildings to provide complete temporary site facilities, including a reception, site offices, meeting rooms, a canteen and portable toilet units. The all-steel buildings provide the durability needed for a busy building site, as well as excellent levels of security. With just three weeks’ notice, Konstructa delivered and installed all of the buildings before the agreed deadline, enabling building work to commence on schedule. The units were double stacked to create six two-storey buildings. They were fully fitted-out by Konstructa with office and canteen furniture. Barry says: “All of the units arrived in excellent condition, and many of them were brand new. Everyone on site has been very happy with the quality of the accommodation, which looks clean and professional. “Because Konstructa also supplied all the furniture we needed, we just had one point of contact for all of our temporary site accommodation needs. On this first project with Konstructa, the company met all of our quality and service requirements, and we will certainly use them again in future.” |
